Today, something unexpected and wonderful happened. We were enjoying a sunny afternoon at our kids’ favorite park when, out of the blue, our little ones decided to turn our ordinary day into an extraordinary one. They concocted a plan, and before we knew it, they had transformed our casual outing into a makeshift wedding ceremony.
Our 4-year-old took charge, declaring that we needed to get “married again.” Our 3-year-old got to work, gathering wildflowers to create a beautiful bouquet. And our 2-year-old? Well, they were the enthusiastic cheering section, eager to celebrate this impromptu union. Before long, we found ourselves holding hands, exchanging vows (of sorts!), and sealing our love with a kiss – all under the watchful eyes of our tiny wedding planners.
As we held hands, our 4-year-old pronounced us “husband and wife” once again. The ceremony ended with a joyful flourish as our kids showered us with flowers, yelling “Congratulations!” (or “Ongradulations!” in our 2-year-old’s adorable pronunciation).
The sun shone brightly, casting a warm glow over the entire scene. It was a truly magical moment, one that rivaled our actual wedding day (which is no small feat!). As I reflect on this special experience, I’m reminded of the beauty and blessings that surround us.
I encourage you to slow down and appreciate the tiny, precious moments in your own life. These unplanned, unscripted moments are often the most meaningful and beautiful – gifts from God that money can’t buy.
Thank you, Lord, for these treasured blessings.
